About us

The business founder, Nigel Clayton, has over 25 years of experience of construction and engineering.

He started out ‘holding a ladder’ for building maintenance contractors and moved on through land surveying, minerals surveying and mine surveying in South Africa’s Gold Mines. Duties as a Setting Out Engineer in Soweto merged with a Quantity Surveying remit and Nigel never looked back.

On return to England he worked his way through the ranks, with a variety of contracting organisations, from Ass’t QS up to International Operations Director, a role that combined with Group Commercial Director. Thyssen GB Ltd duties included Engineering, Insurance, Mining as well as construction regions across the UK.

A move to a consultancy role with Alway Associates in 2003 was soon followed by appointment as Director of Brunswick.  During his time at Brunswick, Nigel managed to build projects from concept to handover; dealt with countless commercial matters and spoke regularly for construction study centres. The decline of the Alway Group necessitated a change and Nigel established Clayton Consult in 2014.

The services that Clayton Consult provides are tailored to meet specific project requirements. We promise to provide solutions that are cost effective.

The sectors that Clayton Consult works in are diverse, and our staff are experienced in applying their skills and experience in traditional as well as specialist areas including:

  • Building
  • Civil Engineering
  • Mechanical and electrical services
  • Process engineering
  • Systems engineering
  • Signalling and telecommunications.
